DESCRIPTION:Find out how hyperthermia and smart nano-chemotherapy are opening new doors for breast cancer patients\n May 1st 2026\n 12:40 – 13:20\n Colloquium (Flux 6)\n Free lunch included\nBreast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide\, and its treatment carries significant physical\, emotional\, and psychosocial burdens. For patients who don’t respond sufficiently to chemotherapy\, the path to breast-conserving surgery is often blocked — with mastectomy as the result. \nThis research explores a promising alternative: thermochemotherapy\, which combines MR-guided local hyperthermia with targeted nano-chemotherapy to improve treatment outcomes while reducing toxicity. By using electromagnetic fields to heat tumors non-invasively — and MRI to monitor temperature in real time — this approach aims to make breast-conserving surgery accessible to more patients. The work focuses on developing the specialized hardware that makes this possible. \nJoin us for this lunch lecture\, where two PhD researchers from the CARES project will share their work on bringing engineering and oncology together to create more personalized\, less invasive cancer treatment — with potential applications beyond breast cancer. \nThis event is sponsored by C3Te\, the TUe Center for Care & Cure Technology Eindhoven.
